Infrastructure DevelopmentVoluntary Sector Infrastructure is the support that helps frontline voluntary organisations delivering services to do their best for the individual people and communities they serve. Organisations of all sizes need assistance to deal with new legislation, responding to government policy and changes in funding programmes. New organisations may need support with governance or organisational structure. These are just some of the services that infrastructure organisations provide for frontline voluntary and community groups.
The infrastructure network ranges from community action centres through to district wide Councils for Voluntary Service and beyond to specialist support organisations such as Rural Community Councils, Funding Advice Services and Community Accounting Services. As the regional voice of the voluntary sector, the Regional Forum joins these thematic and geographic networks together and makes the connections to other regions and national voluntary sector networks.
This work is vital but because much of it goes on between organisations it is invisible. Investment in voluntary sector infrastructure helps to support the whole voluntary and community sector and current government support for the sector is channelled through the ChangeUp programme. ChangeUp is managed at arms length from the Government by Capacitybuilders
