Neil Bishop

Neil is from D F Enterprise (Darnall Community Forum).

Neil Bishop has worked in the voluntary, community and faith sector for 29 years. For most of that time he has worked for the Methodist Church, including 5 years seconded to the Church of England to promote inter-church work. For 10 years he managed the Methodist Church's presence in South Leeds. During this time he co-founded an incorporated charity, Faith Together in Leeds 11, which set up the Hamara Centre and the Building Blocks Family Centre, both in Beeston Hill. In 2005 he helped to remodel Building Blocks as a social enterprise day nursery, which now has more than 40 childcare places for local families. The following year, 2006, he moved to become manager of Darnall Community Forum in Sheffield where he has also helped the Forum to set up a number of social enterprise activities trading as D F Enterprise. For six years Neil was chair of Voluntary Action Leeds and he was also a founding board member of Leeds Voice. Neil's regional experience includes serving on the working party which created the Yorkshire & Humber Faiths' Forum and being a founding member of the Council of Reference for the Forum. He also chairs the inter-faith theme group of the Churches' Regional Commission for Yorkshire & The Humber and is the minister of a Methodist Church in Wakefield.
