Rebecca Weinberg

Rebecca is our Vice Chair and is from Leeds Jewish Welfare Board.

Appointed to my present role as Chief Executive of Leeds Jewish Welfare Board and Leeds Jewish Care Services in April 2005, I moved from Manchester to Yorkshire simply because I fell in love with the region. The significant diversity, vibrancy and accessible countryside cast their respective spoils!

Employed in the voluntary sector since 1984 and a Magistrate since 1990, I have been privileged to work with many diverse users and providers. I believe my experience has enabled me to have robust understanding about the challenges and opportunities facing voluntary and community groups.

The current recognition by Central Government that expertise within our sector can reach parts of our communities that other agencies cannot reach is progress indeed. However, simultaneously, traditional funding sources are ever decreasing and organisations are reviewing values and objectives prompted by initiatives such as Social Enterprise. This can be a bewildering world in which sustainability is paramount.

Whilst totally committed to the Third Sector on a strategic level, I am also passionate about high quality service provision. Striving to ensure that no one is marginalised and has equal and open access to services has always been, and will continue to be, my inspiration.
