Simon CaleSimon is from National Children's Centre. I am Chief Executive of National Children’s Centre, Huddersfield. Our charity delivers a range of support services to children, young people and families in need in Kirklees and West Yorkshire.
The charity also supports me to link to Regional networks of voluntary, community and faith sector organisations linked to our work area. I mainly do this by supporting the Regional network which is operated by National Council for Voluntary Child Care Organisations (NCVCCO). Together we support VCS and faith groups working on children’s issues and encourage them to link through this network.
We successfully run seminars in the region on a regular basis on key issues for the sector as children’s services are changing within our Districts in the Region. Through this support we reach out to small and medium sized groups and successfully involve the larger charities in helping them through sharing their expertise and knowledge.
I feel we need to keep developing support for the sector through identifying and securing new funds that come through for infrastructure support and for running services. We need to keep demonstrating the effectiveness of our activities for communities in the Region to the key agencies that influence our futures.
